ArmInfo. The press secretary of Yerevan's Mayor, Hayk Kostanyan, has responded to the protest action by the residents of the "Haghtanak" neighborhood in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district.
This afternoon, a group of residents from the mentioned neighborhood briefly blocked a section of the "North-South" highway in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district, demanding that Yerevan City Hall resolve their issues regarding obtaining cadastral certificates for their real estate. They claim that they are unable to conduct any real due to the lack of new certificates, despite assurances from the Mayor's office and Mayor Tigran Avinyan. They believe that the current authorities want to seize their land. The protesters also noted that this was an action to draw the attention of the city authorities to their problem, and if they do not receive responses within a week, then thousands of citizens will join them in protest.
Kostanyan noted that the residents of the neighborhood have been waiting for decades for a resolution to issues concerning land ownership rights. In this regard, he assured that the mayor's office has started to take concrete steps to address this issue. He also stated that the authorities will persist in using their authority to find the best possible solution to the problem.
