ArmInfo. Armenia's Deputy Minister of Justice, Anna Karapetyan, discussed key issues on the reform agenda at the Ministry of Justice with a delegation from the Council of Europe, led by Lilia Gretarsdottir, Head of the Department of Human Rights, Justice and Legal Cooperation.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, during the meeting the parties discussed reforms in human rights, judiciary and legal matters, anti-corruption and other areas. In this regard, the interlocutors highly appreciated the level of implementation and funding of the CoE action plan for 2023-2026.
During the meeting, expert evaluations of the package of bills being developed since 2024 regarding the Judicial Code, criminal legislation and legislative initiatives in the field of human rights protection were presented. Karapetyan also emphasized the significance of involving arbitrators from the CoE member states in the upcoming "arbitration week" in the fall of this year, expressing confidence that this could inject new energy into the development of the institute. The meeting also discussed the outcomes of the interdepartmental commission's review of ECHR decisions. At the end of the discussions, Karapetyan provided her CoE colleagues a document outlining the Ministry's priorities and stressing the importance of establishing a substantive agenda for future cooperation.
