ArmInfo. Since early morning on February 7, representatives of the Mother Armenia movement have continued their propaganda campaign to boycott the application of the new tariff for travel on Yerevan public transport.
According to the leader of the movement, Andranik Tevanyan, the actions are taking place in various administrative districts of the city. The boycott, as Tevanyan noted, is gaining momentum, as evidenced by the refusal of Yerevan residents to purchase transport packages. "The fact that the city hall has stopped publishing figures on passenger traffic and the amount of funds collected indicates that the boycott is beginning to bear fruit. According to our data, the number of people boycotting the application of the new tariff of 150 drams instead of the previous 100 drams is already 60%. It is necessary to continue the actions so that the city hall returns to the previous tariff," Tevanyan said.
He noted that there is also a group of residents who are embarrassed to resort to such a form of protest as a boycott. Meanwhile, the politician continued, there is no need to be embarrassed, since those who do not pay are helping those who do not have such an opportunity. "The boycott must continue," the politician emphasized.
On February 1, the decision of the Council of Elders came into force in Yerevan on paying for public transport in the amount of 150 drams, which caused discontent among the opposition, who considered this decision unfounded.
