Armenia`s airports to get cutting-edge equipment for passenger,  luggage examination 

ArmInfo.In order to speed up the process of serving citizens and improve the level of aviation security, modern biometric equipment and new generation scanners will be installed at Armenian airports.

As stated in the explanation to the document, currently, access  control procedures to a special controlled area of airports are  carried out by identifying employee passes, and the Rapiscan MVXR  5000 type inspection equipment used in the process of baggage  inspection allows 70% of the necessary aviation security requirements  to be met during baggage inspection. The remaining 30% is ensured by  re-inspection and visual inspection procedures.

However, due to the growth of passenger traffic in 2022-2023, there  is a need to introduce and apply the latest technologies and  innovative processes. For this purpose, biometric devices will be  installed at the entrances to airport halls, and   type equipment will be installed for baggage screening, which will  ensure screening of 98% of baggage, and screening of 2%, which will  automatically send the equipment to the secondary screening stage,  will be carried out using separate screening and surveillance  equipment through the use of screening procedures, which will ensure  rapid baggage screening procedures at airports in full compliance  with the standards established by ICAO.

The adoption of the above-mentioned decision of the Government of  Armenia will facilitate the introduction and application of the  latest technologies in the work to ensure aviation security at  airports, will speed up baggage handling processes and will increase  the level of aviation security at airports.
