ArmInfo. Since early morning of February 3, the Mother Armenia movement has resumed its campaign in favor of boycotting the new 150 dram public transport fare.
On his Facebook account, the movement's leader Andranik Tevanyan noted that the boycott should become more intense with the start of the new work week. The politician noted that citizens should know that by paying 150 dram, they themselves are taking on an additional burden. "For all those who do not have the opportunity to pay more, they should not do this. It is the right of each of us not to pay the new tariff," the movement leader said.
Tevanyan added that until the issue of returning to the previous tariff of 100 dram, which was signed by 17 thousand residents of the capital, is discussed at a meeting of the Yerevan Council of Elders, the boycott will continue. "Dear citizens! Show your social solidarity with those who do not have the opportunity not to pay the new tariff," the politician emphasized.
On February 1, a new tariff for public transport came into force in Yerevan, which is 150 drams instead of the previous 100 drams. The opposition in the Council of Elders called on the population and guests of the city to boycott this decision of the capital's mayor's office.
Many responded to this call. When entering the salons of buses and trolleybuses, they either pay nothing at all, or give 100 drams to the drivers. But there are also law-abiding citizens who pay the full fare.
