ArmInfo. Deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the opposition faction "Armenia" today, February 1, joined the participants of the action boycotting the application of new fares for public transport.
In a conversation with journalists, NA deputy Garnik Danielyan noted that today he drove from the housing estate towards Abovyan Street and paid the driver 100 drams for the ride. During the trip, the deputies called on citizens to join the boycott. The mood in transport, as the parliamentarian noted, is different: most of them remain silent, not expressing their position, while others openly protest, fairly expressing their discontent. But there is also a category of citizens, Danielyan continued, who say that they are forced to obey the decision of the Yerevan authorities. "A significant portion of citizens indicate that paying even 150 drams for travel is a serious burden for them and they are not ready to pay the new tariff," the parliamentarian emphasized.
On February 1, a new tariff for travel on public transport came into force in Yerevan, which is now 150 drams instead of the previous 100 drams. The opposition in the Council of Elders of the capital of Armenia called on citizens to boycott this decision.
