Opposition rep explains reasons for not being allowed to attend  meeting of Yerevan Council of Elders 

ArmInfo. Samvel Hakobyan, a member of the Council of Elders from the Mother Armenia faction, was not allowed into the meeting hall by decision of Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan after the brawl. In a conversation with journalists, Hakobyan asked to record that in his political activities he never allows himself to resort to insults or familiar expressions. 

As the oppositionist said, when the verbal altercation between the  members of the Council of Elders began, and the mayor, who should  serve as an example both in terms of behavior and statements, used a  slang expression (<Iya>), he could not control himself and responded  as follows: <You are not mature enough to talk to us like that>. <And  he was offended by this expression. But let him first study the cause  and effect relationship and understand from what moment Samvel  Hakobyan allowed himself to stand up and start shouting. Let him  study everything in detail and understand that he himself started it  all and ask himself for forgiveness," said the member of the Council  of Elders.

After Hakobyan was not allowed to his workplace during the Council of  Elders meeting, the Mother Armenia faction made a similar decision.  At the same time, they called on citizens to boycott the 150 drams  fare on public transport from tomorrow and pay 100 drams, as they do  today. <The 100 drams fare must remain, and this government, both at  the city and state levels, must go. An end must come to impudence,  brute force and arrogance>, - noted the members of the Council of  Elders from the Mother Armenia faction.

Continuing the meeting of the Council of Elders, Yerevan Mayor Tigran  Avinyan reported that Samvel Hakobyan was removed from the hall due  to offensive expressions. <I believe that we should take into account  where we are and why we are here. And we will continue to apply such  measures, if necessary>, - the mayor said.
