ArmInfo. During a session on January 28, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) elected Vahe Grigoryan as judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in respect of Armenia.
"Mr. Vahe Grigoryan, having obtained a majority of votes cast, is elected judge of the European Court of Human Rights for a term of office of nine years, which shall commence no later than three months after his election. Judges are elected by PACE from a list of three candidates nominated by each State which has ratified the European Convention on Human Rights," the statement published on the PACE website says.
Recall that in August 2023, a commission was established to choose a judge to represent Armenia at the ECHR. Armenia has put forward Vahe Grigoryan, Nora Karapetyan and Anna Margaryan as nominees for the position. The appointment process is regulated by the Prime Minister of Armenia.
