ArmInfo.Azerbaijan is not sending a delegation to Strasbourg for accreditation in PACE. Frank Schwabe, the head of the German delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), wrote in his microblog on Twitter (X).
"Azerbaijan accepts that it cannot have a delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe due to fundamental disregard for the values and rules of the Council of Europe, and is not sending a delegation to Strasbourg for accreditation," Schwabe wrote.
It should be noted that the winter session of PACE opened in Strasbourg today. The session agenda includes elections in Belarus, parliamentary elections in Georgia, the situation in the Gaza Strip, immigration and population aging in Europe, mercenaries and private military companies, content on social networks, freedom of speech and the need for a renewed international order.
It is noted that among the unresolved issues is the status of the Azerbaijani delegation, which was deprived of its voting rights in PACE a year ago. The Azerbaijani authorities were given time to address human rights violations and free political prisoners. Considering that the situation in this area has deteriorated in the country since then, it indicates that the Azerbaijani authorities have no intention of meeting the demands of PACE.
We will also add that today during the winter session of PACE, Arusyak Dzhulakyan, a member of parliament from the ruling Civil Contract party, was approved for the position of Vice-Chairman of the Assembly. The deputy announced this on her Facebook page.
