Armenia`s Ambassador to Belgium attends an event commemorating the  Armenian Genocide victims

ArmInfo. Armenian Ambassador to Belgium Tigran Balayan, has attended a solemn event in the House of  Representatives of the country commemorating the victims of the Genocide.

As mentioned by the press service of the Armenian Embassy in Belgium,  in December 2020, the House of Representatives adopted a resolution  establishing the National Day of Remembrance of Officially Recognized  Genocides. This event was held in observance of this day, enshrined  in the country's calendar.

During the event, welcoming speeches were given by Pieter de Roover,  the President of the House of Representatives of Belgium and  Michel  de Maegd, the author of the 2020 resolution. The speakers emphasized  the importance of preserving memory, remaining vigilant, and  promoting global cooperation to prevent future crimes. In turn,  journalists and genocide scholars presented reports on  "How to  Interrupt the Cycle of Violence" and "The Duty of Vigilance in the  Face of Genocide: Detecting Warning Signs."
