ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan himself renounced Nagorno-Karabakh. This was announced on January 26 at a press conference for foreign and Belarusian journalists after voting in the presidential elections of Belarus by President Alexander Lukashenko. Lukashenko touched upon the "resentment of the Armenian leadership towards Belarus".
"They are offended at me for supporting Azerbaijan. God be with you, I have always supported common sense, I was for there to be no war, for us not to fight with each other," he said. The President of Belarus recalled that at one time he actually performed a mediation function between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, trying to facilitate a peaceful resolution of the territorial dispute. According to him, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also proposed economic cooperation and investments. "Aliyev did not even have the goal of fighting with Armenia," the Belarusian leader said. Lukashenko noted that he had publicly voiced these proposals, including in Armenia, but the Armenian leadership did not develop these proposals.
"What happened is the fault of the leadership in Armenia. Only their fault," the leader of Belarus emphasized. Moreover, Lukashenko continued, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan himself in his statements "recognized Azerbaijan's territorial claims when he didn't have to do so."
"Pashinyan himself renounced Nagorno-Karabakh. Although at that moment Ilham was ready to agree that this was a territory where Armenia would have serious influence. Even after they lost this war, no one forced them to do so, Ilham Aliyev also speaks openly about this, they said that they recognize what happened in the USSR, and Stepanakert and Nagorno-Karabakh are, in fact, the territory of Azerbaijan. Listen, Russian President Vladimir Putin and I were stunned. I call him and say: did you hear? "I heard." Putin says: "Why did he say that? "Nobody forced him to say anything." I asked: did you push him? "No, I didn't interfere at all." But this is such a gift. Who wouldn't take advantage of it? What does this have to do with me? They decided to "shoot" at me, but you know who they wanted to hit," the Belarusian president provided details.
Lukashenko also warns the Armenian leadership against flirting with the European Union.
"They have started flirting with the EU. A very dangerous game. Calm him down there. He will destroy Armenia. He is also turning Russia against himself. He is surrounded, a small territory. The population is not gigantic. And he has surrounded himself with enemies. Now, the European Union will start helping him with something: He will destroy the country. Therefore, he must be calmed down. We cannot allow a war in the Caucasus," the head of Belarus said.
