ArmInfo. I do not consider any of the prisoners in Baku prisons to be my political opponents. This statement was made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashingyan during an interview on January 25 with the Public Television of Armenia, answering the question of whether the Armenian government is inactive in this matter, since it considers the prisoners in Baku prisons to be its political opponents.
On the contrary, he noted that this fact not only causes serious concern, but will also be used for a new escalation. In this regard, the Prime Minister referred to intelligence data indicating that psychotropic prohibited substances are being used against Armenian prisoners to obtain testimony that will contribute to an escalation in the region.
He stated that the trials against the former leaders of Artsakh will be used against the Republic of Armenia. "We understand the depth of this issue very well, and we are trying to resolve this issue by all available means. But I am not saying this to justify myself. There are superpowers whose citizens are in a similar situation and have not been able to return them for years. But let's put aside the moral and human aspect, given that there are people who think that we are far from all this. Let them think so. But a threat is being formed against Armenia," the head of government said, noting that all these testimonies will be used against the Republic of Armenia. "How can we be happy that these political opponents of ours are imprisoned in a Baku prison? How can one even think about such a thing?" he asked.
