ArmInfo. The international organization Action Against Hunger plans to implement a 10-month pilot program in Tavush to support the socio-economic integration and employment of citizens forcibly displaced from Artsakh, as well as other vulnerable groups in the population.
This information was shared after a meeting between Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Artur Martirosyan and a delegation from Action Against Hunger, led by Marcella Maxfield, the Regional Director for the South Caucasus.
As part of the program, the organization will collaborate with youth centers in the Tavush region, specifically in Dilijan and Ijevan. The initiative will be financially supported by the Embassy of France in Armenia. According to MOESCS, the program will include training courses on the methodology developed by the SHUTTLE organization and tailored specifically for Armenia.
Marcela Maxfield, the Regional Director, reported that the Organization has been carrying out various programs in Armenia since 1994, focusing on life support, agriculture, employment, promoting a healthy lifestyle and nutrition in educational institutions, institutes, and ensuring food security. She expressed readiness to collaborate with the relevant ministry of Armenia in developing general education, secondary vocational education, additional and continuous education, emphasizing the importance of development programs alongside humanitarian aid programs. Maxfield noted that Action Against Hunger's extensive experience in similar areas in other EU Eastern Partnership countries, particularly, in Georgia and Moldova. Deputy Minister Artur Martirosyan welcomed the implementation of the program and noted that one of the Armenian government's goals by 2026 is to establish 25 youth centers in the regions to support young people's potential development and intellectual leisure activities.
