ArmInfo. We talk a lot about migration in Armenia, but we overlook the topic of migration in the Diaspora, where it is more prominent, as stated by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, during a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community in Switzerland.
He explained what migration means in the case of the Diaspora. According to the head of government, not speaking the language, not reading, and not practicing Armenian traditions constitute migration for an individual of Armenian descent. <Even if he retains his Armenian surname, he does not associate himself with the Armenian nation - this is migration,> he said.
Additionally, Pashinyan noted that 50 years ago, about 90% of the Diaspora were affiliated with the national companies, parties, the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Benevolent Union and various other organizations. Today, the picture is different. <Today, we are losing Diasporas. And the only salvation is the Republic of Armenia, the association of Armenia with its homeland. Otherwise, we risk losing our Diaspora entirely,> he emphasized.
