This information has been circulating in Armenian social networks and needs verification.
According to Abkhaz Armenians, the local political opposition has close ties with radical Turkish nationalists and Turkish intelligence. The opposition perceives local Armenians as a hindrance to gaining power Turkish support of Turkey and is compiling "black lists" and preparing provocations against them. The appeal also raises concerns about potential pogroms and violence targeting the Armenian community. According to media reports, the main initiators of the persecution of Armenians are Levan Mikaa, the Chairman of the Committee for the Protection of Sovereignty of Abkhazia, and Adgur Ardzinba, the Chairman of the People's Movement of Abkhazia and a candidate for the presidency of the republic.
Earlier, documents were leaked on the Insider Abkhazia Telegram channel, exposing a plan by Devlet Bahceli, the leader of the ultra-nationalist Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) of Turkey and a key ally of Erdogan, targeting Armenians in Abkhazia ArmInfo has reached out to the office of the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs for confirmation of this information, but confirmation hasn't been obtained yet.
