ArmInfo. The head of the Armenian MFA, Arart Mirzoyan, invited his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov to visit Yerevan. Mirzoyan voiced the invitation on January 21 at a press conference in Moscow following talks with Lavrov. "This visit was planned for nearly 3 months, but was consistently postponed due to technical reasons. I will be delighted and looking forward to seeing you in Yerevan. Today's meeting was held in a sincere and constructive atmosphere, covering a wide range of issues including bilateral cooperation and the theme of peace in the South Caucasus," the Minister noted, expressing hope that relations will continue to develop in a constructive manner.
According to him, the meeting addressed the challenges of establishing peace and stability in the South Caucasus. He emphasized that despite the obstacles and challenges, Armenia is making dedicated efforts to achieve a sustainable and lasting peace that benefits all countries in the region. The head of the MFA recalled that Armenia is at a unique crossroads, that could greatly enhance the development of communications and increase the region's logistical appeal. The "Crossroads of Peace" project aims to achieve this based on sovereignty and jurisdiction, and the principle of reciprocity among countries. Mirzoyan mentioned that the project has received a positive response from a number of international organizations and countries, including the Russian Federation.
Regarding the economy, he noted that the figures speak for themselves. "Armenia considers trade and economic cooperation within the EAEU crucial for economic growth and realizing its foreign trade potential," the head of the RA MFA added, positively assessing the granting of observer status to Iran in the EAEU under the RA chairmanship. "In the context of bilateral relations, the importance of maintaining dialogue at all levels, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in various industry areas, and maintaining the positive trend in the development of dialogue, was noted. Some of the issues discussed included ways to create a more favorable atmosphere in the media space," Mirzoyan concluded.
