ArmInfo. Russia has always valued and continues to value fraternal relations with the Armenian people and with Armenia - a natural strategic partner and ally. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on January 21 in Moscow during talks in an expanded format with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. He noted the interest in continuing to develop centuries-old cooperation with the Armenian side.
"We have discussed our trade and economic relations, which are growing stronger. Trade turnover reached almost $ 12 billion last year, according to statistics," he explained, noting that such results were achieved in part, thanks to Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. The Russian minister mentioned that the meeting will cover both regional and international events. "Regional security plays a significant role in our efforts towards the South Caucasus. We are ready to provide the necessary support for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan in all directions for the development of those trilateral agreements reached by the leaders of the three countries in 2020-2022. We believe that these agreements are still relevant, especially given the current situation in the region," Lavrov concluded.
