ArmInfo. Armenia is interested in maintaining an effective dialogue with Russia to discuss issues on the bilateral agenda and the regional situation. This was stated by Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, during talks with the head of the Russian MFA, Sergey Lavrov, on January 21 in Moscow.
"Armenia is interested in maintaining an effective dialogue with Russia to discuss issues on the bilateral agenda and the regional situation. Armenia has always followed the principle of open and constructive dialogue, and we hope that in the future the Russian side will consider all aspects of what is happening, avoiding unilateral. Unfortunately, we have seen such interpretations recently and in the past few days," the Armenian minister said. Referring to his visit, he called it relevant. "The visit is quite relevant in light of the dynamics of the development of our relations. I remember the last time we met in this format was in July 2023. The visit provides a good opportunity to address bilateral cooperation, as well as to exchange views on regional and global matters," Mirzoyan said.
When discussing collaboration on international platforms, Mirzoyan noted that official Yerevan has consistently shown understanding towards Moscow's position and expects a similar approach to Armenia's actions, considering the interests of the Republic of Armenia. He noted that Yerevan aims to uphold the tradition of collaboration with Moscow on international platforms. The head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry highlighted economic cooperation as a crucial component of bilateral relations. According to him, it has a positive impact on the growth of trade relations.
"In the context of Armenia's strong commitment to enhance the economic appeal of the South Caucasus, I am pleased to reaffirm Armenia's vision of unblocking all transportation routes in the region as part of the Crossroads of Peace project," Mirzoyan stated. He also noted that the cooperation between Armenia and Russia on humanitarian efforts is positive as well.
