Text of national anthem cannot be changed due to anyone`s preferences  - MP

ArmInfo. It is not allowed to change the text of the national anthem of Armenia based on one's own tastes and preferences. This was stated on January 20 in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia by Gegham Manukyan, a member of the National Assembly from the opposition faction  "Armenia".

Today the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia began its work  with the performance of the anthem, the text of which has not yet  been approved by the country's parliament.

"You are simply obliged to comply with the requirements of the laws,  including the law "On the National Anthem". It is not allowed to  change the text of the national anthem and rearrange the words and  quatrains based on one's own tastes. This law has already been  violated twice in the session hall of the National Assembly," the  oppositionist noted.

Earlier the government of the Republic of Armenia approved the  legislative initiative of the National Assembly deputies from the  ruling "Civil Contract" faction on amending the law "On the National  Anthem". The draft was considered at a meeting of the National  Assembly Committee on State and Legal Issues on January 10, and has  not yet received a final verdict at a plenary session of parliament.
