ArmInfo. Armenian schoolchildren brought 17 medals from the 21st International Zhautykov Olympiad in Astana, Jan. 13-17.
As reported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MECS) of the Republic of Armenia, 14 students from the Physics and Mathematics School named after Shahinyan at Yerevan State University, 8 students from the Quantum gymnasium, 7 students from the Foton gymnasium and 4 students from the National Polytechnic University took part in the Olympiad. Armenian schoolchildren won 2 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals. In addition, the head of the NPUA physics team Hovsep Karapetyan was awarded a gold medal in the competition among coaches.
As recalled by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Olympiad was held in the subjects of "Mathematics", "Physics" and "Computer Science".
The International Zhautykov Olympiad has been held in Kazakhstan since 2005 for students in grades 10- 11. Teams from different countries, consisting of no more than 7 people, take part in the Olympiad: 3 representatives for mathematics and 2 for the other disciplines, as well as 1 or 2 mentors.
