ArmInfo. The situation with public transport in Yerevan still leaves much to be desired. In addition to the upcoming increase in public transport fares (almost 3 times in the case of buses, if citizens are not included in one of the preferential groups), certain routes serve citizens at intervals that can last up to 40 minutes or more. The reason for such a collapse is the shortage of category D drivers.
During today's working meeting of the city hall, the director of Yerevan Buses CJSC Beglar Kirakosyan reported that out of 225 vacancies over the past week, 110 were filled, 115 are still vacant.
Having noted that applications from potential drivers are being received, he noted that if the intensity of the past week continues, this issue can be resolved in the coming days.
At the same time, he said that last week 76 routes were served by 3,974 vehicles, instead of the planned 4,691. <That is, 717 less, or 15.3%>, noted Kirakosyan.
