ArmInfo. The "trials" of the military-political leadership of Artsakh are needed by the government of Azerbaijan to legitimize its false political theses, cleanse itself of ethnic cleansing in Artsakh and create a basis for aggression against Armenia, stated the former Ombudsman of Armenia, head of the Tatoyan Center for Law and Justice Foundation Arman Tatoyan.
The human rights activist is confident that the Azerbaijani authorities will use the "trials" of former State Minister of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan, former President Bako Sahakyan and other compatriots for self- affirmation at the expense of the dignity of the Armenian people, "belittling our national identity, deepening tensions and divisions between us."
"Therefore, we must not allow this Azerbaijani propaganda to spread in our society. We must remember that our compatriots are held hostage in Azerbaijani prisons, and all their testimonies are extracted through inhuman torture and "supported" by artificial stories. These "trials" are our national tragedy," he added.
As ArmInfo reported earlier, on January 17, under the chairmanship of Judge Zeynal Agayev, the Baku Military Court will consider the "indictment" against the former leaders of Nagorno-Karabakh. Among the accused are three former presidents of Nagorno-Karabakh: Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan and Arayik Harutyunyan. Also appearing before the court will be former Foreign Minister David Babayan, Parliament Speaker David Ishkhanyan, former Commander of the Defense Army General Levon Mnatsakanyan, General David Manukyan and former State Minister Ruben Vardanyan.
