ArmInfo. Not only hostages, but also every Armenian who wants to have a homeland and fights for his freedom are being tried in the courts of the enemy state of Azerbaijan. This is stated in the statement of the Central Committee of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun" of Artsakh in connection with the start of the illegal trial, which will take place on January 17 against 16 out of 23 Armenian hostages, including the military-political leadership of Artsakh, illegally held in Azerbaijani prisons.
The statement notes that human rights violations and illegal actions during the trial are obvious.
"It is clear to us that potential testimonies obtained under various pressures cannot serve as a basis for calling into question the statehood of Artsakh and the fact of its existence," the statement says.
The Artsakh ARF further recalled that the prisoners and military-political leadership captured by the enemy were the guardians and creators of the Armenian statehood. In particular, it is noted: "The events of September 2023 demonstrated the commitment of the military-political leadership to the security of the people of Artsakh. This dignifiedly implemented responsible position was confirmed by the fact that they remained close to the people until the last moment, putting personal freedom in the background and, as a result, ending up in a Baku prison."
The statement also recalls that the statehood of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was based on the will of the Armenian people and achieved at the cost of the struggle and blood of thousands of freedom-loving Armenians. "Therefore, not only hostages are tried in the enemy's court, but also every Armenian who wants to have a homeland and fight for freedom," the conclusion says.
As ArmInfo reported earlier, on January 17, under the chairmanship of Judge Zeynal Agayev, the Baku Military Court will consider the "indictment" against the former leaders of Nagorno-Karabakh. Among the accused are three former presidents of Nagorno-Karabakh: Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan and Arayik Harutyunyan. Also appearing before the court will be former Foreign Minister David Babayan, Parliament Speaker David Ishkhanyan, former Defense Army Commander General Levon Mnatsakanyan, General David Manukyan and former State Minister Ruben Vardanyan.
