ArmInfo. The past year was very productive in terms of the development of relations between Yerevan and Tehran and the intensity of mutual visits. This was stated by the President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan during a meeting with the delegation led by the head of the Iran-Armenia Friendship Group of the Majlis of the IRI Ara Shahverdyan.
"Armenia attaches great importance to the consistent strengthening of good-neighborly relations with Iran. For us, Iran has been and remains a special partner," Khachaturyan added, the press service of the President of the Republic of Armenia reports.
The President of Armenia also emphasized the importance of cooperation in the format of friendship groups and regular meetings of representatives of legislative bodies, bearing in mind the significant role of parliaments in the development of bilateral relations, the formation of an atmosphere of mutual trust and complete understanding.
In turn, the Iranian parliamentarian conveyed greetings to Khachaturyan from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as from Majlis Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
"They personally wished you and the Armenian people success, so that 2025 would be a year of blessings for the peoples of Iran and Armenia," Ara Shahverdyan said.
During the meeting, issues of further development of bilateral relations were discussed, with special attention paid to deepening cooperation in the economic and political spheres. The parties emphasized the need to expand cooperation in the areas of communication channels and infrastructure.
The interlocutors touched upon regional security issues, paying special attention to the "Crossroads of Peace" project, presented by the Armenian government as a tool for establishing sustainable peace and security in the South Caucasus.
