ArmInfo. The Russian Foreign Ministry called a letter allegedly from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed to his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov a fake.
"A so-called letter allegedly from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister D.A. Bayramov, written in English, is being circulated online, stating that our country cannot guarantee the safe use of Russian airspace. This is a cynical and crude fake.
This fake is an example of a primitive fake designed to provoke an emotional reaction. The authors of the fake did not even bother to give it official attributes, sending it from a regular mail domain and an ordinary email address," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Moscow called it obvious that such malicious disinformation was the result of a political order and an attempt to speculate on the topic of the crash of the passenger plane of the Azerbaijan Airlines on December 25 near the Kazakh city of Aktau. This is far from the first leak on this topic.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also recalled that the investigation into the causes of the plane crash is being carried out by relevant agencies.
"On December 28, Lavrov and Bayramov had a telephone conversation, during which the ministers confirmed the agreements of the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan on the need to ensure the most thorough investigation of this tragic incident.
We once again call on all responsible participants in the information space, primarily media representatives and bloggers, to be critical of any unverified data and materials.
We strongly recommend that you be vigilant, do not trust fakes, and rely only on verified information. Official materials and statements of the Russian Foreign Ministry, transcripts of speeches by S.V. Lavrov and messages following telephone conversations with foreign colleagues are posted on the web portal and in the MFA's accounts on social networks," the Russian Foreign Ministry summarized.
