ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation led by Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As reported by the press service of the Prime Minister, Pashinyan considered it symbolic that Ahmadian is the first high-ranking foreign official to visit Armenia in the new year, and added that this highlights the importance and depth of Armenian-Iranian relations. He noted that the two countries share natural interests, and expressed the Armenian government's interest in the continuous growth and enhancement of bilateral cooperation in all areas. Ali Akbar Ahmadian emphasized the rich civilizational history between Armenia and Iran, as well as the warm relations between the two peoples, which give confidence confidence that mutually beneficial cooperation will continue to strengthen and deepen.
The interlocutors discussed topics concerning the growing bilateral relations and were optimistic about the new opportunities for collaboration in technology, industry, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, road construction and other areas. They highlighted the significance of partnering with Iran on the construction of the North-South highway project, believing it will boost bilateral trade and cargo transportation.
The discussion also touched upon Armenia' "Crossroads of Peace" initiative for regional transport connectivity. Ali Akbar Ahmadian noted that Iran supports the implementation of the above-mentioned project based on the principles laid down in it.
