ArmInfo. The Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia reports that as of the morning of December 28, roads in the territory of the Republic of Armenia are closed and impassable.
In particular, as the source notes, the road leading to Lake Kari and the high-mountain weather station "Amberd" is closed to vehicles. The Vardenyats Pass is closed to trucks with trailers due to heavy snowfall and fog. The Artashavan-Tsilkar highway is closed to trucks. The turns of the roads in the Spitak region and on the Stepanavan-Vanadzor, Vanadzor-Dilijan highways are impassable for trucks with trailers.
It is snowing in Aparan, Aragats, Talin regions, the cities of Jermuk, Dilijan, Gavar, Sisian, the villages of Lanjanist, Lusashog, Lanjar, the sections of "Meghru Sar", Saravan-Zanger, "Zanger"-Tsghuk and the bends of Tigranashen. In places called Saralanj-"Zanger", "Chayniye Izlugini" and on the roads of Syunik region, there is ice in some places. There is fog on the Yerevan-Sevan highway, in the villages of Mayakovsky, Balaovit, Jrvezh, Dzoraghbyur. Snowstorms are raging on the Aparan-Nigavan road, in the Aragats region and in the village of Tsilkar. According to information received from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open to all types of transport, the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
Meanwhile, according to the customs attache of the Armenian Embassy in Russia Vahan Hakobyan, the Upper Lars checkpoint is closed to cargo transportation. The reason was the heavy snowfall on the Gudauri-Kobi section. The road remains open to light passenger transport.
