ArmInfo. The Sacred Struggle movement no longer has the right to make mistakes. This was stated by the leader of the Sacred Struggle movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, during a press conference in Yerevan on December27, summing up the results of the outgoing year.
"The reactions we receive confirm our responsibility and convince us that this time we have no right to make mistakes," he noted.
According to the cleric, they have no alternative program, methods or goals other than to remove Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from power, adding that this will be done further through protests and street struggles. "There are no other options or possibilities.
A political solution to this issue will be the result of our movement," the leader of the Movement assured.
He also avoided answering the question about the possible timeframe for the implementation of the stated plans, only noting that they are at the stage of active preparation. The clergyman did not provide any other details. He also did not agree with the assertions that their movement had failed, emphasizing that it has a civilizational significance and is aimed at changing values and strengthening identity.
"If we consider this only as a process, then yes, we can consider it a failure. But it will fail only if we are unable to convey our ideas about identity, civilization and values to people," Galstanyan explained. At the same time, the cleric drew attention to the fact that it was thanks to the efforts of the Movement he leads that it was possible to suspend the so-called demarcation process, which in fact was unilateral concessions initiated by the current Armenian authorities in the direction of Tavush, albeit with some territorial losses.
"That is why it is unacceptable for me to speak about the failure of the movement. If the struggle is stopped or I realize that I have really deceived people, I will cease to exist. This is my personal issue, and I am not ashamed to ask for forgiveness for my actions and inactions. For us, this struggle has become a confirmation that the mood in our society has changed, even without our demand," the leader of the movement stated.
At the same time, the clergyman stated that he fully accepts responsibility for what is happening. Speaking about mistakes, he recalled that he was accused of failing to meet the deadlines for removing Pashinyan. In this vein, he said that the planned program was violated and admitted his mistakes in the process. "We have analyzed all the mistakes we have made, but I do not want to go into detail. However, 2025 should be the year of refusing to justify ourselves for the mistakes we have made. In this struggle, a change of power is a very serious obstacle, but only an element in a global task," the leader of the movement noted, emphasizing that in parallel with the problem of a change of power, they are working to change the values in society.
