The defense team of former Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Armen Ashotyan has filed a motion with the Anti-Corruption Court to provide the former minister with the opportunity to participate online in the first meeting of the European People's Party, which will be held on January 13-14, 2025 in Brussels.
Speaking at a court hearing on December 24, Ashotyan recalled that the Republican Party has been a member of the EPP since 2012. The agenda of the upcoming forum also includes issues related to Armenia's security. Within the framework of the forum, as the politician noted, there are various platforms through which certain signals can be sent to the world community. "Our motion is in no way related to my political activities, but to issues related to external and internal developments," Ashotyan said, adding that the meetings in Brussels will be held every day for 3 hours. In other words, the politician continued, we are talking about online participation for a total of 7 hours.
In response, Judge Vahe Dolmazyan drew the attention of the defense to the lack of necessary documents attesting to the upcoming event. He announced the postponement of the hearing to January 13 in order to provide an opportunity to submit the necessary documents
