ArmInfo. On December 23, the Artsakh Chamber Orchestra gave a concert at the Komitas Chamber Music House in Yerevan.
As reported by the Golos Armenii newspaper, the Artsakh State Chamber Orchestra presented an interesting and ambitious program to the audience. It performed Mozart's Divertimento in D major, Tchaikovsky's Serenade for string instruments, as well as solo works by Komitas.
Along with the debut concert of the revived orchestra, an art exhibition was held, which featured works by Armenian artists. According to the source, the orchestra plans to tour outside Armenia in the future.
The concert was previously announced by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Artsakh Foundation, famous opera singer Hasmik Papyan, and the artistic director and conductor of the orchestra, renowned cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan, during a press conference in Yerevan.
The Artsakh State Chamber Orchestra was founded in Stepanakert in 2004 with the support of the government of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the AGBU. The first artistic director and principal conductor of the orchestra was a graduate of the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory and the Vienna Academy of Music, musician Gevorg Muradyan, who already had considerable experience in concert activities. He, in turn, was supported by composer Simon Sargsyan, who became the director of the orchestra. The presentation of the revived Artsakh Chamber Orchestra took place in July of this year in the hall of the Yerevan office of the AGBU, which again took the orchestra under its wing after 2004.
