ArmInfo. The security and territorial integrity of Armenia cannot be sacrificed for the sake of an illusory peace for the sake of the ruling elite to maintain power. This was stated by the head of the Tatoyan Foundation, former Ombudsman of Armenia Arman Tatoyan.
"Peace is an absolute value, but lasting peace is possible only through strengthening the country, protecting our national interests and rights, as well as the effective use of diplomatic and international mechanisms," Tatoyan added.
As the former Ombudsman of Armenia explained, the ruling elite has turned the propaganda of "peace" into a tool for maintaining power and preserving its positions by undermining the foundations of the state and decomposing the resistance of the people. In this vein, Tatoyan also noted that Azerbaijan turned to the Prime Minister of Armenia with a request for the so-called "return to the homeland" of 300,000 Azerbaijanis.
"With the false concept of "Western Azerbaijan", the Azerbaijani side demands "security guarantees" for 300,000 Azerbaijanis, including the deployment of armed forces of a third country on the sovereign territory of Armenia. Obviously, this is a plan to occupy Armenia under humanitarian cover, which will lead to devastating changes in the demographic situation in the country," the head of the foundation explained. At the same time, he expressed confidence that among these Azerbaijanis there may be intelligence agents and Armenophobes who ensured the blockade of Artsakh, pretending to be "environmental activists."
At the same time, as Tatoyan noted, Pashinyan declared his readiness to abandon lawsuits in international courts for the sake of signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, which undermines the national interests of the country and the people. "This not only does not speak of peace, but also only exacerbates hostility. This will mean giving the Azerbaijani authorities the opportunity to get rid of the crimes committed against our people and creating favorable conditions for further crimes," Tatoyan summed up.
Days earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated in an interview with VGTRK that "about 300 thousand Azerbaijanis have already sent a request to the Armenian authorities for an official return to their homeland, but official Yerevan is still silent." At the same time, the Azerbaijani president, under the guise of peace, continues to make territorial claims against the Republic of Armenia, calling the country nothing other than "Western Azerbaijan" - a new narrative promoted by Azerbaijani propaganda after the forceful absorption of the Republic of Artsakh against the backdrop of the silent encouragement of the civilized international community.
