ArmInfo. Member of the National Assembly of Armenia from the opposition faction "I have the honor" Tigran Abrahamyan responded to the statement of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan that the entire negotiation process on the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict was aimed at leaving Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.
"In my opinion, this statement contains two key nuances that are either not discussed at all or are not given due attention amid the general noise. Firstly, despite the fact that after the Azerbaijani aggression and occupation of 2023, the entire elite of the ruling Civil Contract party in Armenia tried with all their might to convince the public that it was right to surrender Artsakh, thereby trying to justify their failures and trying to convince the people that this issue no longer exists, with his statement Pashinyan proves that the problem is not only not closed, but, in fact, it remains a lump in their throats," the parliamentarian noted.
Secondly, the oppositionist continued, from an ideological point of view, a person who considers Artsakh to be Azerbaijan, who stated that the right decision is to transfer Artsakh under the control of Baku, practically admitted that he not only lied when he stated in 2018 that the Artsakh issue should be resolved on the basis of the principle of the right to self-determination, but also subsequently moved the process in a completely opposite direction.
"Moreover, to make matters worse, he went for broke, declaring in August 2019 on Revival Square in Stepanakert that "Artsakh is Armenia, period." Thus, Pashinyan sacrificed Armenian interests, which led to enormous human and territorial consequences for Armenia and Artsakh. There is no topic for political debate here, especially with the participation of former presidents. The only thing that is and should be after the change of power is to give a legal assessment of everything that Pashinyan and his elite, who led the process in this direction, did and did not do," Abrahamyan emphasized.
As a postscript, he asked a question about what the Armenian presidents should discuss with Pashinyan. "From the very beginning, you chose a completely different path, aimed at friendship with the enemies of our people and working against your compatriots, and now you are in a hopeless situation and are trying to choose the path of irresponsibility and escaping responsibility?" the parliamentarian asked. Let us recall that from his page on social networks, Pashinyan called on the former presidents of the country to debate on the above-mentioned issue.
