ArmInfo. The latest statements by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with Russian media outlined the list of demands that Baku is putting before Yerevan for signing the so-called peace treaty. Former Foreign Minister of Armenia Vardan Oskanyan stated this live on his Facebook page.
Noting that he has no idea about the content of the so-called peace treaty, and expressing his conviction that Armenia has already made several unilateral concessions, Oskanyan noted that Armenian society has already witnessed a number of such concessions - the loss of Artsakh, the occupation of the territories of the Republic of Armenia, and more.
"As we see, Azerbaijan has put forward a huge list of demands to Armenia. According to Aliyev's latest statements, 300 thousand Azerbaijanis have already approached the Armenian authorities with a so-called request to "return" to the Republic of Armenia and are awaiting a response from the authorities. Moreover, it turned out that the EU civilian mission will withdraw from Armenia's borders, and Yerevan must cease purchasing weapons," Oskanyan noted. The diplomat added that even though Aliyev did not mention a corridor through Armenia's territory, it does not mean that this issue is not being considered. Oskanyan is sure that the Azerbaijani president does not consider it necessary to talk about this today, as he believes it is easily achievable for himself. "Azerbaijan will simply enter and seize this corridor. Aliyev believes that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has promised him this corridor giving him the right to enter and claim it. So, this is a serious concern, and the statements of the Armenian authorities that the corridor is a "red line" for them hold no weight. Previously, the Armenian authorities stated that Artsakh is Armenia and that's it, but reality showed otherwise," the former head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted.
At the same time, he added that yesterday Pashinyan tried to address Aliyev's demands in his interview. "Regarding the issue of arms purchases, Pashinyan tried to justify himself by saying that the purchases are solely for defensive purposes. However, Pashinyan's response falls short of what is expected from the leader of a sovereign state. A true representative of a sovereign state would answer that "it is not Azerbaijan's concern what, how and where Armenia buys," Oskanyan asserted. Once again underscoring Pashinyan's failed diplomacy, the former head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the Armenian Prime Minister has accumulated significant experience in negative diplomacy, with all his actions proving detrimental to the Republic of Armenia.
Oskanyan is confident that the only way out of the difficult situation in which Armenia finds itself today is to bring the Artsakh issue back to the negotiating agenda. According to him, despite efforts by several international organizations and states to address the Artsakh issue, the only obstacle to its inclusion in the negotiations is the Armenian authorities. " The Armenian authorities hold a significant responsibility in this matter, as they have obligations to many citizens, including the people of Artsakh, who have lost their homeland and homes," the former head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted.
