ArmInfo.Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan visited the Shirak region of Armenia on December 18. During his visit he familiarized himself with the programs that are currently being implemented in the region.
According to the government press service, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers got acquainted with the asphalt paving works on a section of the national road near Bayandur village. The government has allocated 599.9 million AMD for this project, and, currently, about 90% of the work has been completed. The Prime Minister then visited the Vardan Achemyan Drama Theater in Gyumri, where an anniversary event celebrating the 90th anniversary of Shirak State University was taking place.
The final stop of Nikol Pashinyan's visit to the Shirak region was Gyumri's Shirak Airport. The Prime Minister inspected the newly constructed departure hall of the airport, which has the capacity to serve up to 1.2 million passengers annually. Additionally, 450 square meters of space have been designated for duty- free shops and cafes. It should also be noted that parallel renovation work was carried out on 700 square meters of the old building of Shirak Airport, where 450 square meters of space will be used for a public service provider. The total investment in Shirak Airport totaled approximately 14 million USD, funded by by Armenia International Airports.
