ArmInfo.A peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan is unlikely to be signed in the foreseeable future, according to political scientist and Central Asia expert Arkady Dubnov.
The Russian expert expressed this position following the interview of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev with RIA Novosti, where the latter, in particular, stated: "A peace treaty and simultaneous arming of Armenia are incompatible." Dubnov noted that in addition to Baku's previous demands, which must be met before signing - changing the Constitution of Armenia to remove Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Armenia, and dissolving the OSCE Minsk Group on Karabakh as unnecessary, since Armenia has already recognized this region as part of Azerbaijan - a new demand has emerged: denial of Armenia's right to acquire weapons.
