ArmInfo. Armenia's minister of interior, Belgian ambassador discuss further cooperation in cybercrime control
Yerevan, December 18. ArmInfo, Marianna Mkrtchyan. Armenian Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan and Belgian Ambassador to Armenia Eric de Muynck discussed issues of training police officers in combating cybercrime and preventing possible crimes in the cryptocurrency market at a meeting in Yerevan.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Interior Ministry, in this regard, Sargsyan emphasized the importance of cooperation in preventing transnational crime, noting that with the appointment of a liaison officer in Europol by Armenia, these areas will also be covered.
The head of the Armenian Interior Ministry also pointed out the importance of conducting trainings not only to strengthen the needs of the central office, but also to develop local capacity, in regional departments.
The parties welcomed the launch of the practical phase of visa liberalization between Armenia and the EU, which was announced on December 11 in Yerevan during a meeting with the Minister of Interior and Deputy Director General of the European Commission for Migration and Home Affairs Johannes Luchner, and expressed mutual readiness to cooperate on this agenda as well. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
The Belgian Ambassador expressed readiness to continue and expand cooperation between the two countries. The Ambassador emphasized that the appointment of the Federal Liaison Officer deepened bilateral relations by ensuring more efficient communication.In turn, Sargsyan emphasized the importance of effective cooperation both bilaterally and within the EU.
