ArmInfo. The draft peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia includes 17 provisions, 15 of which have already been agreed upon, as stated by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to journalists, APA reports.
He noted that work is ongoing on the remaining two provisions. According to the minister, the draft peace treaty consists of 17 provisions and a preamble: "The texts of the preamble and 15 provisions have been almost fully agreed upon. However, there are still open questions regarding 2 articles. Work on them continues. Several rounds of negotiations have taken place and text exchanges have been carried out. So far, a fully agreed version has not been reached yet. The work is ongoing," the Azerbaijani minister said, adding that during the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan and Armenia have continued peace talks and exchanges on the text. "Negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia on normalization have continued. Numerous meetings have also been held on the peace agreement, and text exchanges have also continued. Despite the open questions, there has been significant progress," the head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said. He once again pointed to the Constitution of Armenia, which, according to Baku, contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
"The recent decision of the Constitutional Court of Armenia has further complicated the issue, because the preamble of Armenia's Constitution refers to a document from the time when Armenia gained independence, and that document also includes territorial claims against Azerbaijan," Jeyhun Bayramov noted. The head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has once again raised the issue of the so-called "Zangezur Corridor." "Azerbaijan is continuing work at an accelerated pace on its territory to open the Zangezur Corridor, and the construction of a bridge across the Araz River is currently underway. "The corridor's opening hinges on Armenia fulfilling all of its obligations, but there is no final positive decision on this matter," the head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
