Genocide prevention must be one of pivots of international security  system - Vahagn Khachaturyan

ArmInfo. We are confident  that early prevention of genocide should be one of the pillars of an  effective international security system. This was stated on December 12 during the 5th Global Forum against the Crime of Genocide, which is taking place in Yerevan, by the President of the Republic of  Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan.

In this vein, he noted with regret that crimes against humanity,  genocides and the threat of their repetition continue to be pressing  issues today. The President said that during the 2 days of the forum,  the participants will discuss the tools for preventing genocides and  other crimes against humanity in order to understand their strengths  and weaknesses, focusing on the mechanisms that need to be  strengthened.

Prevention of genocide, respect for international law, elimination of  impunity, protection of civilians, as Khachaturyan noted, is the  responsibility of states. In this regard, he noted that Armenia's  position is to build and protect peace based on a sustainable system  of justice, on legal decisions that are capable of responding to the  violation of human rights.
