ArmInfo. The History Museum of Armenia signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Louvre, within the framework of which joint exhibitions are planned for next year.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MECS) of the Republic of Armenia, the expansion of cooperation with the French side took place in the context of the opening of the Armenian-French international exhibition "Yesterday and Today. In the Footsteps of Jacques de Morgan" at the History Museum of Armenia.
The exhibition presents for the first time outstanding examples of archaeological heritage discovered in the 80s of the 19th century by the famous archaeologist Jacques de Morgan in the northern regions of Armenia, in Akhtala, which are stored in the National Archaeological Museum of France.
"Five exhibits brought from France were compared with more than six dozen artifacts found during the Armenian-French archaeological expeditions in the footsteps of Jacques de Morgan in the 90s. Some of them are being demonstrated for the first time," the MESKS noted.
As Deputy Minister Alfred Kocharyan noted, the agenda of cooperation, especially with France, is very extensive and new interesting initiatives are expected in the near future.
"The History Museum of Armenia has a good tradition of organizing international exhibitions. In recent years, the museum has significantly intensified cooperation with international partners, which is an important direction of state policy in the museum sphere," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
According to the source, the opening of the exhibition was also attended by French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decotigny and Director of the National Museum of Archeology of France Rose-Marie Mousseau. The exhibition is organized with the support of the RA Ministry of Education, Science and Culture and the Ministry of Culture of France in cooperation with the History Museum of Armenia and the National Archaeological Museum of France Saint-Germain-en-Laye, on the initiative of the French Embassy in Armenia.
