ArmInfo. RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia, Alfonso Di Rizzo, who is completing his diplomatic mission in the country. This was reported in a statement by the press service of the RA President.
Vahagn Khachaturyan highly appreciated the efforts of the Ambassador aimed at enhancing Armenian- Italian relations and fostering friendship between the peoples of the two countries. "Thank you for your diplomatic efforts. You have successfully revitalized the Armenian-Italian relations during this challenging period. This concerns both bilateral relations and cooperation between Armenia and the EU. Without a doubt, it was aimed at strengthening the friendship between the peoples of our two countries," the President said, wishing Alfonso Di Rizzo success in his future activities. The meeting discussed further developing close cooperation between Armenia and Italy. The parties highly appreciated the effective collaboration between Armenia and Italy, both bilaterally and on the international platforms.
During the conversation, the regional situation and developments in the South Caucasus were discussed. In this context, the President emphasized that Armenia is consistently progressing towards establishing good-neighborly relations and stable peace in the region. The conversation also touched upon the role of the European Union civil society monitoring mission in reducing tensions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The parties highlighted the importance of deepening cultural cooperation between the two countries, including the implementation of joint programs, exhibitions and cultural exchanges that reflect the rich historical and cultural heritage of the two peoples.
