Armenia`s CEC verified signatures submitted by the initiative for a referendum on Armenia`s EU accession

ArmInfo. At the meeting on  December 10, the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia confirmed  the validity of the number of signatures required by law, which were  submitted by the civil initiative "On initiating a referendum on  Armenia's accession to the European Union". This is stated in the CEC  statement.

The source notes that the CEC used technical and software tools to  verify the authenticity of the signatures, including comparing the  data on the signed forms with  information available to state bodies  and local governments. The process was monitored by representatives  of the  initiative. A total of 52,351 valid signatures were  collected. According to the Constitutional Law of the Republic of  Armenia "On Referendum", a minimum of  50,000 valid signatures are  required for an initiative group to submit a bill to parliament.
