ArmInfo. Over the past year, $30 million in assets have been returned to the Republic of Armenia. Mher Mkrtchyan, the head of the Department of Organization, Supervision and Legal Assistance at the Prosecutor General's Office, provided this information on December 9, 2024 during the presentation of a research report conducted within the framework of the "Justice Barometer: Measuring Judicial Response to Corruption" project.
According to the press service of the supervisory body, the report covered the results and status of investigations into civil and criminal cases in the Anti-Corruption Court. Discussing the statistics of criminal proceedings investigated by the anti-corruption committee regarding corruption-related crimes, the department head highlighted that between January 1 and October 30, 2024, 131 criminal cases were sent to court involving 287 people. It was noted that from 2018 to 2022, the amount of funds recovered through claims protecting state interests rarely exceeded one percent of the total state losses (averaging 0.25% annually). However, in 2023, there was a significant increase in the effectiveness of this legal mechanism, with the recovered damages exceeding 5% of the total losses.
