ArmInfo. The occupying regime in Armenia has officially refused or is simply afraid to talk about the international recognition process of the Armenian Genocide. Former Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zakaryan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
He recalled that on December 9, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which provides a detailed definition of genocide and speaks of the responsibility of persons for instigating or committing genocide, be it a state, an individual official or an individual. According to the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Holidays and Memorable Dates", December 9 is marked as the Day of Condemnation and Prevention of Genocide.
The former head of the Ministry of Defense noted that today the work of the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights began in Yerevan, where the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, delivered a speech, but failed to mention anything about the prevention and condemnation of genocides. Moreover, Zakaryan continued, this issue is directly related to several EU member states that have officially acknowledged and condemned the Armenian Genocide.
