ArmInfo. Chairman of the Armenian commission on border delimitation with Azerbaijan, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan states that there is currently no agreement on the date, place and format of the next meeting. At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister assured, this does not mean that the process has reached a dead end.
In particular, on December 9, in an interview with Faktor.tv, answering the question about the stage of the process of delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the Armenian Deputy Prime Minister stated that the parties are preparing for the next meeting.
"There is no agreement on a specific date," he said.
At the same time, he refrained from answering the question about which section, after Tavush, the next stage of border delimitation will be held.
"I cannot say, these issues are currently being discussed," Grigoryan noted, disagreeing with the assessment that the process has reached a dead end.
At the same time, he admitted that different versions were discussed at the last meeting. "I can't say more. There is an agreement in the public sphere to limit ourselves to officially published information," he explained.
Mher Grigoryan also answered vaguely to a clarifying question from a journalist, whether this meant that no new meetings were planned for this year.
"I can't say. The date of the meeting is determined by a bilateral agreement. At the moment, there is no agreement on the date yet," he said.
On April 19 of this year, the state commissions of the two countries agreed on the delimitation of the border in the Tavush region of Armenia on a section of approximately 6 km (in the area of the villages of Kirants, Berkaber, Voskepar and Baganis). On May 15, the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Mher Grigoryan and Shahin Mustafayev signed a protocol-description on the immediate delimitation of the border between a number of settlements in Tavush based on 1976 maps. After this, four villages were effectively transferred under the control of Azerbaijan.
On November 22, in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that at the next meeting, the Armenian and Azerbaijani state border commissions will select a new section for delimitation. This was stated in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. He recalled that during the last meeting in October, the commissions agreed to submit proposals on a mutual basis on which sections of the border to continue delimitation. The Armenian side presented its approaches, the Azerbaijani side presented its own. At the next meeting, it will be decided where the process will be continued, the Prime Minister noted.
