ArmInfo. The UN Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) has published recommendations regarding amendments to the Armenian Law "On the Human Rights Defender". These recommendations cover various issues such as the term of office of the defender, the provision of sufficient financial resources from the state budget and other related matters. As ArmInfo was informed by the Office of the Ombudsman of Armenia, these recommendations were the result of the re-accreditation of national human rights institutions conducted by GANHRI in October of this year and reviewed by the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENHRI).
"ENNHRI continues to collaborate with network members in implementing the recommendations submitted by the United Nations Subcommittee on Accreditation (UNSAC) of GANHRI within the framework of the re-accreditation of national human rights institutions," the statement says. Touching upon the activities of the Human Rights Council of Armenia, the organization paid special attention to its active participation in public discussions of key issues related to the protection of human rights in the country, including issues of discrimination and the rights of persons in vulnerable situations.
