Within the framework of the OSCE Ministerial Council forum in Malta, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a meeting with Kaja Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission, High Representative for the EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. As reported by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, at the beginning of the meeting, Mirzoyan congratulated Kaja Kallas on assuming the position of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and wished her success in the current period full of challenges.
The interlocutors emphasized the recent significant achievements in deepening the Armenia-EU partnership and the unprecedented development dynamics of relations. They expressed their readiness to continue active collaboration to advance an ambitious agenda. Mirzoyan and Kallas discussed the key aspects of the new Armenia-EU partnership program. They highlighted that through joint efforts, the RA-EU cooperation covers a wide range of areas of mutual interest, including people-to-people interactions, democratic reforms, and security discussions. They also acknowledged the role of the EU civilian mission in ensuring stability on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
The Armenian Foreign Minister and the EU High Representative exchanged views on regional issues. Mirzoyan detailed Armenia's efforts to establish stable peace in the South Caucasus, including the signing of an agreement on normalizing relations with Azerbaijan. The discussion also touched on the regional economy and the importance of enhancing connectivity through transport communications.
It is noteworthy that Kallas has already held a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. In this regard, she wrote in her Twitter microblog (X): "Today I had a good first meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. We discussed the EU- Azerbaijan partnership and the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. I am ready to support all efforts towards sustainable peace in the region."
