ArmInfo. Former MP from the ruling faction "My Step" Argishti Mekhakyan will head the Armavir region of Armenia. The decision was made on December 5 at a government meeting. Argishti Mekhakyan (born in 1986) graduated from the Economics Department of Yerevan State University in 2007.
Participated in the international youth exchange program 'T.A.L.K" (2013, Sweden), in the educational visit of organizations engaged in youth policy (2016, Ireland). On December 9, 2018, he was elected as a member of the National Assembly from the list of the My Step bloc of parties.
In December 2020, he resigned his deputy mandate and was appointed deputy governor of the Armavir region. A year later, on December 5, he left the post and, heading the proportional list of the ruling Civil Contract party in the local elections, was elected head of the Khoy municipality of the Armavir region. Let us recall that the former head of the region, David Khudatyan, was appointed Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure on November 20.
