The source notes that the decision to remove Armenia from the list was made following the 236th meeting of World Athletics. In total, in addition to Armenia, 7 more countries were included in the decision of the World Athletics Association - Albania, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
In September 2022, World Athletics announced the creation of a new watch list for competition results following an investigation by the Independent Athletics Anti-Military Unit (AIU), which submitted 17 reports of suspicious results during the qualification period before the Tokyo Olympic Games. "Following the 2024 annual report and progress made in improving judging standards and processes, the following federations will be removed from the list, subject to the conditions set by the Competition Commission: Armenia, Albania, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Turkey and Uzbekistan," the organization said in a statement.
