ArmInfo. It is impossible to provide quality education in all 60 higher education institutions of Armenia, which is what the government is striving for. This was stated by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan during the government hour in the National Assembly of Armenia on October 4.
She emphasized the importance of consolidating universities, which is simply inevitable in the current situation, especially considering the law's requirement to have at least 4 thousand students in each higher education institution. To meet this requirement, it is necessary to pursue the path of consolidation. "The resources available today are insufficient to provide quality education," the minister said. Andreasyan added that a working group has been formed with representatives from regional universities to solve their problems. The Minister believes that the decisions made as a result of the discussions in the working group should focus on improving the quality of education and fostering regional development.
It should be noted that within the framework of the state program for the development of education, there is a plan to reduce the number of state universities in the country to 8 by 2030. These universities will mainly be concentrated in "Academic City".
