ArmInfo. On December 8, 9, and 10, we will be knocking on the doors of our dear Gyumri residents and offer to vote for the future candidate for the post of Gyumri mayor, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in parliament on December 4 during the government hour.
The day before, Pashinyan announced that seven candidates (Karen Sarukhanyan, Levon Ananyan, David Arushanyan, Shavarsh Aramyan, Emma Barseghyan, Sarik Minasyan, Vahagn Mkrtchyan) will participate in the primaries for the position of Gyumri mayor.
According to the Prime Minister, the candidate who receives the most votes in the preliminary voting will be appointed as the acting mayor of Gyumri. He will likely also become the Civil Contract candidate in the upcoming elections for the Council of Elders of Gyumri. Additionally, Pashinyan admitted that the ruling party currently does not know the approximate number of Gyumri residents whose doors they will be able to knock on within 3 days. However, the Prime Minister believes that the mechanism of preliminary voting (primaries) for choosing future candidates for local elections needs to be developed and implemented in the future.
